The Royal Cambridge Home is located at East Molesey in Surrey, close to Hampton Court Palace and the river Thames. The river, with all its activities is only a very short walk away. The local High Street with its variety of small shops and pleasant village atmosphere is a ten minute walk away.
The Home can accommodate up to 28 residents who are encouraged to treat the Home as their own home and their independence is acknowledged by the provision of individual rooms, which they are invited to furnish themselves. Many rooms have en-suite facilities and all have telephone and television facilities. The Ladies can relax in the lovely large communal sitting room and library and there is a chapel. In the extensive and attractive gardens, with its putting green, those who wish to continue with a spot of gardening may do so, using the raised flower beds and greenhouse.
Respite Care and Day Respite Care is also offered.
A dedicated and caring staff work hard to maintain the happy atmosphere and make life more comfortable and interesting for the residents, as well as encouraging participation in the social life of the Home or pursuance of their own hobbies and leisure interests. With a new minibus, more emphasis is now given to activities, outgoings and excursions.
A strong association with the Royal Hospital Chelsea has been built up over the years, thus enabling ladies to attend a number of their functions, including the annual Oak Apple Day parade. Ladies are also invited to the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall and the Chelsea Flower Show.
The Royal Cambridge Home is managed by a committee responsible to its board of Trustees, chaired by the Governor of the Royal Hospital Chelsea. The day to day running of the Home is overseen by the resident Manager and her resident Deputy. All are dedicated to providing a pleasant environment for ladies to enjoy a dignified, happy and safe life.
The Home is responsible for its own finances and fees are reviewed annually. Ladies on low incomes may be eligible for State benefits.
